"If you’re in the market for a high-performance exhaust system for your Toyota GR86, 86, or Subaru BRZ, you’ve probably heard of Juiced Pipes". In a recent video, respected automotive content creator Kevin Vo took a deep dive into their latest 3-inch catback exhaust system—and it did not disappoint.
One of the first things Kevin noted was how surprisingly compact the packaging was. Despite housing a full dual-exit catback system, the box was impressively small, helping reduce shipping costs and making the product more affordable.
Juiced Pipes also earns points for their eco-friendly packaging, utilizing Hex Wrap paper instead of plastic. As Kevin said, “Some people don’t care, but it does make a difference.”
Kevin was immediately struck by the sheer size of the exhaust tips—at 5.5 inches, they’re among the biggest you’ll find for the GR86/BRZ platform. “These are about as big as my face,” he joked, emphasizing their aggressive aesthetic.
But Juiced Pipes isn’t just about looks. Their exhaust system features a unique J-pipe design, which isn’t merely for aesthetics—it serves a crucial function. By carefully engineering the length and positioning of these pipes, Juiced Pipes effectively cancels out low-frequency drone, allowing for a loud and aggressive tone without the ear-numbing resonance common in straight-piped exhausts.
This catback exhaust isn’t just about sound—it’s built to last. Crafted from 304 stainless steel, the system starts with a 3-inch pipe before splitting into dual 2.5-inch sections at the Y-pipe. Additional features include:
Helmholtz resonator: Helps further eliminate drone at cruising speeds.
Flex bellow: Reduces harmonic vibrations, ensuring a smoother experience.
V-band connections & slip fittings: Make for a secure and precise fit.
Kevin walked viewers through the installation process, noting that everything lined up well. One key tip he shared was ensuring proper alignment of the exhaust elbows before final tightening, ensuring the massive tips sit perfectly within the bumper cutouts.
“The clamps are still loose so we can make adjustments,” he explained. “We’ll start from the front and work our way back.”
Now for the moment everyone was waiting for—how does it sound?
Kevin was pleasantly surprised that, despite essentially being a straight-piped system, it wasn’t overwhelmingly loud. Thanks to the J-pipes and resonator, the system cancels out the worst drone frequencies while still delivering an aggressive, deep exhaust note.
“When you’re cruising at 60-70 mph, you don’t get that mind-numbing drone,” Kevin noted. “But the moment you lay into the throttle, you instantly hear the growl.”
He described the tone as deep, smooth, and refined—distinct from any other exhaust he’s tested on the GR86/BRZ.
If you’re looking for a quiet, understated exhaust, this probably isn’t the one for you. However, if you want a bold, aggressive tone that complements the performance of your GR86 or BRZ, this system is a fantastic choice.
Loud, but not obnoxious
Deep, aggressive tone without excessive drone
Perfect for enthusiasts who love hearing their car roar
Kevin Vo had high praise for the Juiced Pipes catback exhaust, stating, “Juiced Pipes really put together a quality product that I can stand behind and recommend.” The combination of innovative engineering, premium materials, and an aggressive yet refined sound makes this one of the best exhaust upgrades available for the GR86 and BRZ.
